With fall virtually on the horizon, our focus invariably shifts from one dilemma (namely how short shorts should be) to another. Each September I find myself attempting to decode how one seamlessly transitions to autumn despite the various obstacles. Let’s start with the current weather which continues to prove itself fickle, especially given the deceptively crisp mornings that quickly fizzle-away into searing hot afternoons (accompanied by oppressive humidity). The solution is to layer-up, because layers = options.
My own love of layering is owed purely to the fact they can be thrown on or peeled-off depending on anything – social settings, the weather, etc. Layer a fitted oxford shirt atop any trusty tee-and-jeans combo for varying results (i.e. worn open as a casual nod to the 90ies, or buttoned-up for a sleeker vibe – perfect for anything mildly formal, like brunch). Anchor the look with a low-top leather sneaker – specifically these by Want Essentiels – to ensure your transition to fall is breezy and seriously slick.
