Surviving Las Vegas

On a recent trip to Las Vegas, Justin and I realized the best way to enjoy Sin City is to plan your stay. Vegas is dazzling, but perhaps not as glamorous as this video suggests. In short, it’s important to seek out the best, because it’s there. Here’s what we did:

Stay: Although I’ve always stayed at The Wynn, this time we decided to switch things up and check into The Cosmopolitan. It’s right at the heart of The Strip, with rooms and terraces overlooking all the action, including The Bellagio’s fountain show.

Eat: Our first stop was Yardbird Southern at The Venetian, where farm-fresh ingredients and Southern cooking, culture and hospitality are worshipped. Justin and I ordered a lot, but our favorites included the Crispy Chicken Biscuits and the State Fair Fry (an incredibly slutty fried Oreo / vanilla ice cream concoction). We also loved Carmine’s and Mesa Grill at Caesar’s Palace, plus José André’s Jaleo at The Cosmopolitan.

See: Aside from walking The Strip via interconnecting bridges and hotel lobbies, the best thing Vegas offers is entertainment. We used our trusty Vivid Seats app to book all our shows, especially after our stellar experience at Moulin Rouge in New York. The new Vivid Seats Rewards loyalty program means you actually earn credit on every in-app purchase you make! Our favorite show was Absinthe at Caesars Palace, followed by Le Rêve at The Wynn. Be sure to check out Vivid Seats here.

Sun & Skin: One thing most people forget to tell you is how dry Vegas really is. Spending extended periods of time in the dry desert really does have implications, from sporadic nose bleeds to extreme itchiness. Thank god for Nécessaire, who saved our skin by sending a care package that included The Body Lotion. Its fast-absorbing formula is packed with multi-vitamins and peptides, which basically meant our skin quickly felt ultra supple and healthy. Also, I’m so serious about SPF. For Vegas I used La Roche-Posay Anthelios Mineral Sunscreen, because factor 50 means business.
