For me coats are the pinnacle of winter fashion. At the start of each season I’ll start my search, all-the-while being guided by a checklist of things that count. One: The coat must be practical (i.e. have good pockets), and two: Because a coat has serious sway in the statement-making department, ask yourself which, if-any, speak to you. A great coat is thoughtful in its design. The point is for it to appear characteristic of yourself, but also reflective of the statement you want to make.
Theory’s rust-toned offering has all the hallmarks of a well-bred overcoat. Classic in fit, the details are uncomplicated. Constructed from buzzed alpaca wool, the effect is decidedly sleek – veering on the minimal. As for pairings, I chose a classic picnic checkered shirt, black jeans, and new boots (that have quickly become part of my everyday rotation). The mood is festive – for sure, but definitely still in the realm of the sartorial.
