colette, the globally renowned Parisian boutique (and epitome of cool) has paired-up with PONY to create a limited edition shoe. The collaboration, which serves to breathe new life into the classic PONY Topstar, is awesome. Can you imagine these under a pair of slim-fit black Acne jeans and Balenciaga’s Cotton and Silk Blend Bomber? I can, and it’s perfection.
The Topstar’s classic shape is accentuated by panels of reflective blue material – the exact sapphire shade that colette brands itself on (and actually owns – it’s a colette-specific Pantone). The polka-dotted shoelaces are nothing but playful and charming, another nod to the Parisian retailer. Should anyone give these kicks the paparazzi treatment, know that the camera’s flash will turn the reflective blue to white – so that’s something. Since making its debut as a basketball shoe in 1975, the iconic sneaker has developed a cult following and, just like my latest Lanvin kicks, will undoubtedly wear nicely.
